The top 10 colours for Spring 2017 according to Pantone’s report with “Greenery” the colour of the year 2017.

Pantone is the world-renowned authority on colour and since 1990 has released a colour report each September during Fashion Week. The report includes a selection of 10 trending colours and this year included the colour of the year 2017, Greenery, a rejuvenating and revitalising shade of effervescent yellow-green reminiscent of the prevalent colour that surrounds us in nature.

Leatrice Eismann, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, told The New York Times “This is the colour of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalise, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle, and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to.”

Prevalent in the Spring 2017 collections of Michael Kors, Gucci and Prada to name but a few, Greenery works with a wide range of colour palettes from muted earth tones, bold metallics and traditional neutrals right through to flamboyant tropical shades.

However the colour that leads the way this Spring is Niagara, described as a classic denim-like blue that speaks to our desire for ease and relaxation.

Translating Pantone’s Spring rainbow of colours into gemstones provides endless options that are as diverse as Jade, Pink Tourmaline, Larimar, Turquoise, Lapis Lazuli and Fire Agate. Not forgetting the glorious yellow-green hue of Peridot that reflects Greenery perfectly.

At The Bijoux Magpie we love Pantone’s Flame. This colour is seen in our stunning Fire Agate jewellery. Both fiery and fabulous, it adds a pop of sparkle to Spring’s colour mix. Fire Agate has a beautiful reddish-brown base with flashes of orange, appearing as living flames within the gemstone.

Pantone’s Island Paradise is also a favourite. Think ‘great escape!’ a dreamily ocean tone that’s reflected beautifully in our Larimar gemstone jewellery.

Whether you love the vitality of Primrose Yellow or the energy of Lapis Blue you’re sure to find the colour that sparks your imagination this Spring.
